Full House 2004 Korean Drama
Stranded in China, She managed to borrow money from an actor Lee Young Jae to return to Korea. On her return, she found out that her house was bought by Lee Young Jae.
In an attempt to get her possessions back, she entered in a contract marriage with Young Jae for one year. In spite of losing all, Ji Eun manages to be cheerful and takes things in strike and the business relationship between the two becomes personal as they start to rely and care for each other. Based on a popular manhwa of the same title.
It has spawned numerous remakes and has served as the gateway drug for many K- drama addicts. For me, it had the opposite effect.
After watching Full House, I couldn't stand watching K- Dramas anymore. It turned me off of K- Dramas for a while - kind of like how one bad dining experience can change your view of your favorite dish. I don't think I can watch another Rain drama ever again. That shit was terrible! Male Lead. K- pop superstar Rain plays the role of Lee Young- Jae. Young- Jae is a popular Korean actor who ends up buying Ji- Eun's house. I guess Young- Jae is supposed to be a big softy who puts up a front by being an asshole.

This seems to be a very common Korean male character archetype - the outwardly egotistical and prideful male who is actually caring and sensitive. Dude just came off as a little bitch to me. Rain wasn't doing anything for me in this drama. Maybe if I was a girl, then maybe I would understand what all the hype was about. But.. I'm not. Score: 6. Female Lead. Song Hye- kyo plays Han Ji- eun. Ji- eun is a very optimistic, cheerful, and bubbly girl.
She works as a writer and is the rightful owner of a home named Full House that she inherited from her deceased parents. Although naive and a little slow- witted, Ji- eun is a character with a good heart and spunk. For the most part, I like Ji- eun as a character. However, I do feel that Ji- eun's spunkiness and bubbliness was a little forced. I didn't find Song Hye- kyo as charming as many other lead characters and actresses. Score: 7. 5. Pairing.
I did not like the two main leads as a pair. I am not sure if it is because I didn't like Rain's character or because the chemistry was lacking. Most likely, it's a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B. Since I couldn't care less about these two as a pair, it made the drama very boring to watch. Score: 6. 0. Story. The plot line was rather tame, and it didn't have any significant plot twists.
I can't remember a single detail or scene that took place in the series. Nothing stood out in my mind. Basically, the two main leads are forced to live together, and they work out a marriage contract.
Other than that, it was just a lot of uninteresting character interaction. The writers should have at least thrown in a terminal illness or something. The story was rather boring, and it didn't keep my interest. Also, I don't feel like any of the sub- characters are worth mentioning. It would have taken one amazing sub- character to redeem this drama.
As hard as I tried, I couldn't get all the way through this drama. In my opinion, you need to watch at least 4 episodes if you want to give a drama series a real chance. And usually, you only need about 2 episodes to figure out if you're going to like the series or not. With Full House, I went above and beyond my call of duty. I got all the way up to episode 1. And with only 4 episodes left in the series, I bailed.
I thought perhaps the series would get better, but it didn't. I started watching Full House because it came highly recommended. Well, that's the last time I'll listen to a girl's opinion.
Score: 5. 0. Final Verdict. In my opinion, Full House is the most overrated K- Drama series of all- time. Neither the characters nor the story were interesting enough for me. If you're not a huge Rain fan, skip this one. But how can it be rated so highly by so many people, you say?
I blame it all on Rain fans who have lady boners for him. Once you take the Rain element out, this drama was nothing special. Watching it was literally painful for me. I wanted to blow my brains out. I can't believe I actually took the time to re- watch some of the episodes to do this review. Never again. Score: 6.
